Well, he couldn’t take the time to look at the brakes or the clutch cable which apparently also popped off so I cannot drive it home. He encouraged a trailer and that it’s a great running car. I can fix the brakes and the clutch cable in the driveway, that shouldn’t be an issue. The problem comes in with getting it home.

I don’t have a truck to pull the trailer with. Our Commander is only rated to 3500 pounds and doesn’t have a hitch (because at 3500 why bother with the hitch). Going to try and borrow a truck for next weekend. If it’s still available.

I had already came up with a nickname for it too: Bubble Trouble

How far away is it from your house, mileage-wise?

Ha, well the engine may be running well, but no clutch cable and brakes that need to be bled means it’s a great running car and a really poorly driving car.

Damn. I was hoping you could just call AAA and tell them your clutch cable broke, tow it home.

They’d probably want me to be a AAA member too... lol

I could do almost the same ride for a more expensive one, that is definitely drive-home able

its almost drivable......... start the car in first gear, shut it off at lights/traffic. did that the other day with the truck..........exciting times........

that would be a very long and tedious 300 mile trip home

mostly highway though right?......... maybe drive it to the outskirts of home, and get it towed from there?........ something nicer should come through soon.......

Have you learned nothing from Tavarish? lol

I’ve learned that towing 4500 pounds with an full time 4 wheel drive v6 commander is a bad plan.

I’ve towed 6,000 with an I6 Envoy with no issues. Of course that’s couple with the factory tow package and trailer brakes. Lots of XJ and MJ guys say they prefer towing with their full-time cases (if so equipped) due to the added stability.

Yeah with only a 3500 tow rating, I think I gotta Just wait until next weekend and try and borrow a truck. I bet the full time 4 would help the stability, just don’t want to put that pressure on the transfer case. It already works harder with 2 size up tires haha and that 3.7L sucks without towing, I can’t imagine putting 4500 pounds behind it for 300 miles
